Tips for your Atlanta Proposal
Hey there! I’m a local photographer here in Atlanta, and if there’s one thing I never get tired of it’s capturing that just said yes moment during a surprise proposal. Whether it’s under the city lights of Midtown or tucked away in a quiet garden in Buckhead, proposals are electric, emotional, and unforgettable.
If you’re planning to pop the question in Atlanta, here are my tips to help make it picture-perfect!
Choose a Spot That’s Meaningful But Not Overcrowded
Atlanta has no shortage of stunning proposal locations. Piedmont Park, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and Jackson Street Bridge are all popular (and gorgeous), but they can get crowded fast.
If you want that skyline shot without 15 joggers in the background, consider proposing during golden hour on a weekday.
Lighting makes a huge difference in your proposal photos. Avoid harsh midday sun if you're outdoors, and don’t underestimate how fast it gets dark in winter.
Best Times:
Spring/Summer: 6:30–8:30 PM
Fall/Winter: 4:30–6 PM
It’s easy to go overboard trying to make the proposal “Instagram-perfect,” but honestly, the best ones are simple, heartfelt, and personal. Think about what feels most you two. A picnic at your favorite park, the place where you had your first date, or even your own backyard at sunset.
Atlanta weather is known for switching up at the last second. If you're planning an outdoor proposal, be sure to have a Plan B spot nearby (covered or indoor), and stay flexible. I always keep an eye on the radar and help my clients pivot if needed.
Bring along a letter, favorite song playing quietly on a speaker, a framed photo, or even your dog in a bowtie. It doesn’t have to be over the top, but something that speaks to your relationship goes a long way.
